Since The Lost History (Book 2 in my Talismans of Since The Lost History (Book 2 in my Talismans of Fate series) was published a few months ago, lots of booksellers and readers are discovering the series for the first time so are starting with Book 1, The Wintrish Girl.

A HUGE thank you to @harryhartog.maroochydore for this wonderful review that they posted yesterday. Thank you also for nailing in your review EXACTLY what I set out to do with this series: “Big themes, bigger fun.” That is 100% what I hope readers will take away from my books! 🩷🩷

The DANZ (Diversity in Australia Aotearoa New Zealand) Children’s Book Award was created to recognise, award, and celebrate diverse children’s fiction. I am still bursting with pride that The Wintrish Girl was the inaugural middle grade winner. 🥰

All the money raised from the auction will go towards an inaugural Book Week festival that aims to bring diverse voices to disadvantaged schools.

DANZ says: The items on offer have all been donated by some of the most respected people working in children’s publishing and include manuscript and portfolio assessments for upcoming creators, wonderful book and gift packs for teachers and librarians, and even online meetings! And all just in time for the holiday season.

THANK YOU @ozasiafestival for inviting me to be a THANK YOU @ozasiafestival for inviting me to be a part of the Weekend of Words in beautiful Adelaide. 😍 I loved it so very much. I attended as many sessions as I could and listened to journalists, fantasy writers, children’s authors and memoirists. It was AMAZING. The festival closed with a comedy debate over which is better: Chinese or Indian food? It was absolutely hysterical and was a brilliant way to end the festival.

The highlight for me was getting to know @gabriellewangbooks and @sandhya_librarybagbooks - it was such a privilege to spend time with them both, let alone join them for our panel discussion on writing for children.

Then, just when I thought this weekend couldn’t get any better I was introduced to the wonder that is a cookie dough samosa with chocolate filling. Sigh. This is one very happy author. 📚🏮🩷💫
I’m feeling exceptionally lucky to be at the Weeke I’m feeling exceptionally lucky to be at the Weekend of Words, part of the OzAsia festival. I’ve spent the past two hours listening to incredible writers discuss issues and ideas and it was wonderful. The first pic was from a session with journalists Khalid Amiri, Louisa Lim and Beverley Wang, moderated by Drew Ambrose. The second session was memoirists Qin Qin and Sita Walker, moderated by Smriti Daniel and they were all funny and engaging. Can’t wait for more tomorrow! 📚
ADELAIDE! This Sunday from 11am - 12pm at the Sp ADELAIDE!

This Sunday from 11am - 12pm at the Space Theatre the fabulous @smritten will be hosting a bookish conversation with former Children’s Laureate, @gabriellewangbooks and the multi-award winning author @sandhya_librarybagbooks. Also, (somewhat less impressively), me. 😬

So if you’re in Adelaide please do come and don’t forget to check out all of the other amazing authors and events at the Weekend of Words which is part of the brilliant @ozasiafestival 🏮📚
