About Melanie

Melanie La’Brooy is an award-winning Australian author who writes funny and action-packed fantasy adventure novels that tackle serious themes.

For fourteen years Melanie travelled the world, living in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Some of her favourite moments ever include boating down the Zambezi River past giraffes and hippos, seeing the Northern Lights while standing on a frozen lake in the Arctic Circle, horse-riding through a snowy forest in Bulgaria and swimming in a waterfall pool on an island in Papua New Guinea.

Melanie previously wrote five books for adults, which were published in Australia and internationally, before realising that writing for kids was 100 times more fun (and 1000 times harder). The multi-award-winning The Wintrish Girl, the first book in the Talismans of Fate series, was her debut novel for children. The Lost History, Book 2 in the series, continues the adventures of Penn, Seraphine, Juniper and Arthur, although the Huggle Beast, Ned, is convinced that the books are really all about him.

Melanie’s surname is pronounced La-Broy, like boy but with an r. It’s confusing, she knows.
